For the first time in a while, the Spanish Super Cup is changing its scenery. The 2027 edition will vacate Saudi Arabia for Istanbul, where Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atlético Madrid and Real Sociedad will cross swords at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium from February 2 to 7, 2027. The move is less one of departure than a scheduling one, with Saudi Arabia hosting the 2027 AFC Asian Cup in the meantime, and the Super Cup is set to return to Saudi Arabia in 2028.

The interesting thing about the Istanbul edition is that Riyadh Season remains a key player: it has been declared the official sponsor of the 2027 tournament, ensuring a Saudi presence around one of football’s most high-profile annual showcases while the matches themselves are on the move to Türkiye. And the line-up itself is anything but dull.

Barcelona vs Atlético Madrid will be one semi-final, Real Madrid vs Real Sociedad in the other, with Barcelona already the reigning champions after winning the 2026 edition. And thus, Istanbul gets the stadium, the four-team showdown and the glory for 2027. Saudi Arabia, meanwhile, is far from done.

The Super Cup is heading to Istanbul. Riyadh Season is going with it.
