Miyu Yamashita came into the Aramco Korea Championship final round in first place and left with a course record, another trophy, and one of her best displays of the season.
The 25-year-old Japanese star fired an incredible nine-under-par 63 to finish at 22-under-par, winning the $2 million championship by three shots on Sunday at New Korea Country Club in Goyang, South Korea. Plus, she didn’t drop a single shot in her final two rounds.
An Incredible Finish
Yamashita has been in control of this tournament for some time, but Sunday’s final round was no less daunting for her. A birdie on the third, fifth, eighth and tenth holes saw her grab an early lead, before being challenged heavily by the Czech Republic’s Sara Kouskova.
Yamashita responded with three consecutive birdies to pull away from the competition, before adding an eagle on the par five 17th hole to finish the job. Her final round of 63 broke the course record, and saw her record her fourth win of the 2026 season, and her 19th career victory.
It also marks another win on the Ladies European Tour for the Japanese star, after her win at the 2025 AIG Women’s Open.
More Than Just Length
It’s rare to see Yamashita’s name spoken in the same room as longer hitters. Her game is all about precision, power and, when it matters most, putting. “I would love to be a long hitter, but my game is all about consistency and shot-making,” said Yamashita. “At the end of the day, I play to win golf tournaments, not driving contests!”
This philosophy has seen her climb to number five in the world rankings, with two JLPGA Player of the Year titles and the LPGA Rookie of the Year award to show for her efforts. Her win in Korea was yet another example of her incredible skill.
More Than Four Days Of Golf
The Aramco Korea Championship was another stop on the PIF Global Series a season-long competition which saw women’s golf make its way into South Korea for the first time, featuring a $2 million purse. The tournament was all about women’s sport, with initiatives such as the Women in Sports Playbook (WISP) panel, which delved into the details of women’s sport research, and a Pink Saturday which hosted breast cancer screenings.
Golf Saudi is also supporting women’s golf at every opportunity, using the PIF Global Series to highlight women’s sport both internationally and within the region.
Next Up: China
With the Korean leg of the PIF Global Series wrapped up, it’s time to head to China for the Aramco China Championship at Mission Hills Resort Shenzhen from November 5th to 8th. This year’s field is stacked with talent, but the defending champion Ruixin Liu will be looking to grab her place in history on home soil. But first, Yamashita and her incredible display of shot-making will be remembered for her four wins in 2026, her 19th career victory, and for breaking the course record in Korea.
